Derek Chartrand
Adjuster Apprentice | IICRC-WRT | Commercial Drone Pilot – FAA4957925
Derek Chartrand brings a unique technical background to his role as a Contents Specialist at Strategic Claim Consultants. With a degree in Automotive Business Management and extensive experience as an ASE-certified auto mechanic specializing in Jeep and 4×4 vehicle modification and restoration, Derek developed the precision and thorough documentation skills that now serve him well in the property claims industry.
His transition from hands-on restoration work to public adjusting has proven seamless, as both fields require meticulous attention to detail and comprehensive documentation. Derek’s primary responsibility involves managing the contents portion of property claims, where he documents all personal property affected by a loss, identifies the condition and value of each item, and prepares detailed estimates outlining whether items should be cleaned, repaired, or replaced.
Derek’s expertise encompasses personal property inventory and valuation, estimate preparation for contents cleaning and repair, and damage assessment for fire, smoke, wind, water, and vandalism losses. His strong knowledge of replacement cost research and depreciation application, combined with his detail-oriented approach, has led to impressive achievements, including successfully handling multiple total-loss inventory claims with thousands of line items and helping clients recover full policy limits on complex fire damage contents claims.
When not advocating for clients, Derek continues his passion for off-road vehicles and has recently taken
up golf. His professional goals include obtaining additional certifications such as the AIC, SPPA, and ASD
designations, with long-term aspirations to transition into structural estimating and ultimately become
the lead Public Adjuster on high-value, multi-million-dollar claims.
